Keynote Speaker: Dr. Barry Prentice

Dr. Barry E. Prentice is a Professor of Supply Chain Management, at the University of Manitoba. In 2002, Dr. Prentice organized the first Airships to the Arctic conference. This began the public interest in Canada of using cargo airships for Northern transportation. In 2005, he founded ISO Polar as a not-for-profit institute to coordinate airship research, cold-weather testing and to hold further Airships to the Arctic Conferences. In 2011, Dr. Prentice established Buoyant Aircraft Systems International (BASI), to undertake airship and drone research.

Associate Announcement: Plimp Airships Inc.

We at DELTAs-2022 derive great pleasure in announcing that Plimp Airships Inc. has joined us as an associate for the conference.

James Egan of Seattle Washington is the founder of Plimp Airships Inc, an innovative hybrid between plane and blimp which has benefits of both -- stable platform filming and long flight time like a blimp, along with speeds and dexterity of a plane. This graceful hybrid airship flies like a majestic, large bird at any size -- from the drones we are building today to the passenger airships of tomorrow. The vision is to satisfy global demand for these unusual aircraft from militaries, security groups, cell phone companies and advertisers eager to become part of the spectacle.

Associate Announcement: h-aero

We are delighted to announce that Hybrid-Airplane Technologies GmbH (HAT) under the leadership of Dr. Csaba Singer from Germany have joined hands with us for the upcoming DELTAs-2022 event. Dr. Singer will also be delivering a keynote speech on the research (including hardware and IT implementation) and application standpoint of their novel LTA UAV technology. The talk will also encapsulate key details related to the boundary condition and constraint specifications of their novel LTA UAV technology. Make sure to attend this talk.

The purpose of Hybrid-Airplane Technologies GmbH (HAT) is the R&D activity, production and distribution of sustainable flight systems and communication platforms, in the field of airborne autonomous robotics and cybernetics. The company invented a new way to fly that is completely safe and nearly silent. The flight systems can be powered by renewable energy sources and serve as carrier systems for a variety of sensors for different applications, from live event broadcasting to earth observation. The h-aero®️ flight systems are used in many fields, such as human and nature protection, public and industrial, infrastructure, as well as environmental.

Important Announcement regarding paper submission deadlines!

Meet The Team | Dr. Sharad Prabhu: Publications Committee

In the third post in the 'MEET THE TEAM' series, we would like to introduce a senior member of the publication committee, Dr. Sharad Prabhu.

Dr. Prabhu did his Ph.D. on entropy generation in laminar micro-convective airflow. He has published four research papers in reputed international journal and conferences. He worked as a project research scientist at IIT Bombay till March 2021. His current research interests include entropy, information and evolution, stress concentration factors in orthotropic plates.

Dr. Prabhu has a total experience of more than 38 years. He developed simulation software for particle dynamics-based simulation of the behavior of red blood cells and parasites in blood flow in microchannels. He developed two new experimental set-ups at the Aircraft Structures Laboratory in IIT Bombay, for determination of shear center and approximate determination of Poisson’s ratio.

He has delivered lectures on role of uncertainty analysis in experiments and photo-elasticity technique of stress analysis. He has worked as an FRP design engineer, designing and testing more than 1000 equipment items in FRP. He set up a full-fledged testing facility for composite material testing. He was in-charge of software development facility at Intersil (India) for 17 years and was the system administrator for NCR-UNIX system, and LAN systems. He developed ‘Trans-literation’ software to process 1.6 crore interest warrants of farmers in Devanagari for Govt. of Maharashtra. He has familiarity with statistical quality control in IC chip manufacturing, positioning systems for factory automation, drum filter for sugar industry, brown stock washers and DSM screens for paper and pulp industry, sedimentation and classification equipment, and equipment for water treatment/effluent treatment plant. He has also done apprenticeship at HAL-Nasik and NAL-Bangalore. He is a life member of the Aeronautical Society of India and the National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power.
